“Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.” ~ E.B. White
1.Tell us something about yourself.
My name is Navya Manchanda. I am 6 years old and I am in first grade. I am an Indian, but I was born in the USA. I currently live with my parents in Quincy, Massachusetts.
2. Tell us more about your book.
I have written a children’s joke book. The title of my book is “Simply Stupid, Silly Jokes For Kids”. The book has my original jokes and they are my best jokes. The book has 30 jokes in it and kids who are 5 to 8 years will enjoy my book. I think even grown-ups can enjoy my book.
3. What motivated you to write this book and how did you prepare for it?
During the summer vacation, I was making jokes. My mom shared some of my jokes with her friends and they all liked them. This really motivated me to write more jokes. I thought it would be cool to make a book of jokes. I shared this with my mom and she decided to publish this book. I did not require any preparation as I was taking inspiration from things I was reading and watching. I was able to make all jokes in 2 to 3 weeks.
4. How do you feel being a published author at such an early age?
It really feels great to have a book with your own name as an author on it.
5. Who are/is your favourite authors/author?
My favorite authors are Barbara Parks and Mary Pop Osborne as I like the Junie B Jones and Magic Tree House series
6. What else do you enjoy other than writing?
I am learning to play the piano and I enjoy it a lot. I also love arts and crafts. I especially love to paint with oil pastels. I also enjoy working on the computer as it helps me explore a lot of topics
7. How do you want to work towards honing your writing skills?
I want to read a lot of books because it helps me learn different stories. I also learn new words when I read, which I can use in my books in the future.
8. Do you have a message for young authors like you?
A lot of things around you can give ideas and inspiration to write stories, poems, and jokes. Keep reading, thinking, and writing, and don’t forget to have fun!
